Week 2 coming up…

June 2nd, 2008 by RVD · 3 Comments

Professor Smetters put up the lecture notes for the next 3 sessions (lecture 7, 8, 9) on webcafe so download it if you haven’t done so already.  My printer purchase (as recommended by John Kim in class 32) is awesome.  I used it to print out all of the new lecture notes and it prints in duplex!

I always knew that there would be a ton of work in this program.  After all, I never expected Wharton to just give you an MBA as long as you pay for it (it’s not Stanfurd…)  I know we’re only on our second session but it’s a lot of work.  We’ve already had ~25% of the classes for this term already since week 1 was so long and intensive.  I spent last week trying to catch up and become half proficient at accounting.  I’m still a long ways off…I played around with some practice problems and I was way way off.  This week I’ll spend some time with economics but all the formulas, derivates, acronyms, etc. are confusing.  And management?  So far so good but we have a writing assignment due on 6/21 (according to the syllabus).

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m really excited to go back to class again this weekend because I really do enjoy it.  We don’t have any major deliverables this weekend so it’s nice but the next 2 weeks are going to be STRESSFUL.  The 6/20 session has 2 midterms and a paper due!  Welcome to Wharton.

Oh boy! I knew about the 2 midterms, but didn’t realize there is a paper due the same weekend :-( Things are incredibly busy at work and home at the same time!

well, there isn’t really a whole lot to do about the paper quite yet since we didn’t get the actual assignment yet. I suppose you can try to guess that maybe it’s a “apply the concepts and theories we have learned in class to something you are experiencing (or have experienced) at your workplace” but my brain is on overload from econ and accounting right now.

but look at the syllabus…for mgmt, that paper is sitting right there on the list of due dates as 6/21. what a killer weekend that’s gonna be.

And the paper is worth 25% of the MGMT grade!!!
