Term 3 is the toughest term we have had so far at Wharton. In terms of the course load, it is definitely the highest. In addition, we have this 0.25 unit course for communication this term. This class isn’t so bad (you have various topics and present a speech in each class in front of your group and everyone critiques your speech) but it’s difficult because of the timing. This past Friday we didn’t get out of class until 9:15pm because of this class.
We also have 2 marketing classes this term. In the second half, we have Sabre, which is an interesting marketing strategy simulation. However, it takes a lot of time. It is not uncommon for Sabre groups to have multiple 3-4 hours conference calls to discuss strategy. I have heard that some of the groups have gotten pretty heated over how to proceed with strategy (but I haven’t heard of any actual punches thrown quite yet).
It also seems like we’ve had exams pretty much every session. This past session was the first one in like 2 months that we didn’t have an exam so a group of us went out on Friday night. Since I didn’t get out of class until 9:15 and we had a Sabre meeting, I didn’t get to the hotel until past 11pm. By the time I got out, it was almost midnight. After a long night, I didn’t get to bed until 3:30am so Saturday was obviously a very long day of classes.
But the good news is that term 3 is coming to an end. We’re done with the communications class. We have our marketing final next session and then our Finance and OPIM finals the session after that to end out the term.
Term 4 is going to be great. We start electives.
