Term 3 starts!

This past weekend was the start of term 3.  It’s always exciting to start a new term.  We get new books, meet new professors, change our study rooms, and study with a new section of students.  Term 2 was a bit more painful for me personally because our study room was down on the 4th floor.  I am happy to report that we now have a room on the 5th floor with a window!  I really like our study room.

We had 2 classes this past session.  OPIM and corporate finance.  I sat in on Professor Percival’s finance class last year so I knew what to expect in his class.  He’s a great professor (I think one of the best we’ve had so far) because he is able to keep the class engaged and entertained while going through the material.  As a student, you can sit there and listen to him for the 3 hours of class time and at some point you suddenly realize that that you now know what the Du Pont method is all about and the limited number of levers you actually have to make a difference.

OPIM was also a good class because we were able to work on an actual flow process.

Also, with applications due we are seeing a lot of prospective students coming in to visit our classes.  It’s been fun meeting a lot of the new prospective students and it seems like only a short time ago when I was in their shoes.  If you ask me, I think our class is much more welcoming to the prospective students than the Wharton students were last year when I visited.

Next session includes marketing and I look forward to that class.  I’m not much of a marketing guy but I’m sure it’ll open up some new thoughts.
